Gospel Basics Conversation Cards

How to Use the Cards:

Step 1: Choose a time each day that works best for your family

This may be during meal times, such as at dinner, driving in the car or before you check your phone for the day.

Step 2: Choose a card and read it

My kids love when it’s their turn to choose a card. At this point you can just start the discussion there OR you can choose a variation such as telephone or take turns with each person giving one word each to the answer.

Step 3: Discuss the Question on the Card

It’s that simple, yet often we don’t take action because we feel like we need to prepare or wait until the time is right. With these cards, there is a variety in what is discussed and it is easy to create a habit of talking about the gospel because all you need is the cards. Any time you don’t know an answer then that gives you an opportunity to look it up as a family.

Step 4: Repeat

It might take time for your family to feel comfortable opening up. However, the more consistent you are, the easier it becomes. The more we talk about the gospel in the home, the more comfortable we feel about talking about the gospel. Start small and work your way up.

Pro Tip: Keep the cards where you can easily be reminded to use them

More ways to use the cards:

  • Family Home Evening Lesson and Activity

Make FHE more consistent. When you didn't have time to plan, grab a set of Upon Line cards. Choose which variation card you want to do and you have a built in game and lesson.

  • Journal Prompts

The cards are a great way to ponder gospel principles while writing in your journal. On those days when you don't know what to write about, grab a card and share your testimony.

  • Youth Activities

Use the cards to add a more spiritual aspect to your activities. Pull one out for a spiritual discussion before a planned activity. OR use the cards as part of the activity. See how the youth do at answering the question with a question or use the cards to play telephone and have a great time laughing and then discussing the questions.

  • Personal Reflection

One of the best ways to guide your kids to being more spiritually resilient is building that spiritual resilience in yourself. The cards are compact and ready for on-the-go so you can take them anywhere. Then when you have a moment, instead of scrolling on your phone, grab a card and reflect on the gospel.

  • Uplifting A Friend

When a friend feels down, the General Conference cards can help. Grab one of the cards, give it to your friend, and share an uplifting message with them.

What people are saying about the cards

“I have been using the cards made for personal and/or family study of October General Conference talks. I love them! There are two cards per talk, and each card contains a quote from that talk and a question to ponder. I personally like to read the talk first and then use the cards.

I have found that in using these cards, I am pondering more about the messages and how to better apply them to my life. Thank you Upon Line Learning for this fun, inspiring way to study the Conference talks.” – Sue
